Graffiti is often found in restroom stalls, but a school in Gilbert took control of what is usually considered a problem by painting inspirational messages in their bathrooms.

"Be the reason someone smiles today!"

"Make today amazing"

"You rock!"

These are just some of the positive messages painted in the Finley Farms Elementary School bathrooms.
Positive Messaging on Elementary Stalls
Inspired by a social media post, fifth-grade teacher Tamey Zollner decided to transform her school’s ordinary bathrooms into what she called "inspiration stalls."

"I actually saw a Facebook post from some parents who had done some similar concept at their middle school and when I saw it I knew it was something that we absolutely had to do here," said Zollner.

Zollner’s hope is that the messages promote empowerment, positivity and that the children can see the art and think, "This is who I can be; I can feel like I’m important."

She also hopes the project will encourage the students to value the school, as well as themselves.

"We are also hoping that it will cut down on some vandalism because they’ll feel some pride in what they see," Zollner said.
