Welcome to Finley Farms Kindergarten: Hear from our Students and Families

We are so excited to welcome our future Falcons and their families to Finley Farms Elementary! A recently featured video gives an inside look at a typical, action-packed day for our youngest learners—filled with growth, friendship, and hands-on fun.
Our daily schedule is designed around engaging, student-centered activities across reading, writing, math, science, and social studies. Here is what a day in the life looks like:
-
Morning Prep: Every morning kicks off with announcements and a morning meeting or morning work to help students transition and prepare for a great day of learning.
-
Foundations & Literacy (ELA): Reading and writing are at the heart of our day. During our Fundations block, students use multi-sensory activities to master letters, sounds, and words. They also dive into a variety of fiction and non-fiction books, building critical thinking skills by asking and answering questions.
-
Daily Specials: Kindergarteners rotate through four exciting specials classes each week:
-
Library & Art: Cultivating a love for reading and hands-on crafts.
-
Physical Education (P.E.): Working in small groups on fun, recreational game stations.
-
Music: Exploring rhythm and preparing for a special kindergarten performance that parents are invited to attend.
-
-
Social Time & Play: Unsurprisingly, our students share that recess and lunch are massive highlights of their day! It is the perfect opportunity for them to build social skills, run outside, and make lifelong friends.
What Our Kindergarteners Love Most:
"My favorite thing that the teacher does for us is help us learn."
"My favorite thing about my teacher is she is very nice and she is very polite and she reads to us."
Each day in kindergarten brings a brand-new adventure, and we cannot wait to see our newest Falcons in the classroom very soon!
